Vireon separates from Norwegian Hydrogen

As of today, Vireon is an independent company, separating from Norwegian Hydrogen and continuing to accelerate the development of a Nordic hydrogen refueling infrastructure.

This is an exciting new chapter for Vireon. Independence allows us to be even more agile and focused on our mission to develop and expand hydrogen refueling infrastructure and enable zero emission mobility.

A strategic move

With this move, Vireon will operate independently while maintaining collaboration with Norwegian Hydrogen where beneficial. And while Norwegian Hydrogen as a company will no longer be a shareholder in Vireon, the owners behind Norwegian Hydrogen will.

Vireon will fully leverage its potential, engage in new partnerships across the entire value chain and contribute to the development of a sustainable hydrogen economy.

Stronger focus for both companies

Our downstream refueling activities have been developed under our wings for 5 years now, and Vireon is now in a situation where they can spread their own wings and fly. With Vireon now standing on its own, both companies can pursue our respective growth strategies while collaborating where it makes sense. Vireon can now collaborate more independently with other players in the industry, including our competitors. We are excited about what the future holds for Vireon as an independent company.

Unique position

Over the past few years, Vireon has claimed a unique position as the leading hydrogen refueling company for heavy-duty vehicles in the Nordics. The company has successfully developed numerous projects, secured over 25 million Euros in grants, established strong customer agreements and built many valuable partnerships. Vireon is poised to strengthen its position as a leading player in the hydrogen refueling industry going forward.

As a stand-alone company it is now natural for Vireon to seek new partnerships.

HydePoint, a leader in offshore hydrogen production technology, has entered into a strategic partnership with Norwegian Hydrogen, a key producer and distributor of green hydrogen. The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of mid-size 10-40 MW dockside and near-shore green hydrogen projects, focusing on scaling hydrogen production within a 2-3 year timeframe while laying the foundation for large-scale, offshore wind-integrated hydrogen ventures in the next phase.

GreenIron signs major delivery agreement with Norwegian Hydrogen
Swedish company GreenIron is about to start operations at its green metals production plant in Sandviken, Sweden, utilizing its patented zero-emissions technology with green hydrogen as reducing agent. The green hydrogen will be supplied by Norwegian Hydrogen, which recently opened its first production plant in Norway. Deliveries to Sandviken will start shortly.
