Breaking grounds in Hellesylt

One year from now we will start the production of green hydrogen at the entrance to the UNESCO world heritage area Geirangerfjord. More specifically in the beautiful village of Hellesylt in Stranda municipality. The past week we have arranged a public meeting to involve the local community, and started the work on the construction site.

In 2026, a zero-emission regime will be in force in the Geirangerfjord. We enable ships and vehicles to meet this requirement by using locally produced hydrogen two years earlier.

Public meeting

On Saturday, October 29th, we arranged a public town hall meeting to inform the local community of our plans, and to open dialogue. We experienced an overwhelming response, with lots of people showing up and showing their engagement.

A few days later, on Wednesday November 2nd, we started the actual contruction work on our plot.

Norwegian Hydrogen successfully completed the first deliveries of green hydrogen from our production site in Hellesylt this week.

Norwegian Hydrogen customers receive NOK 600 million grant for new ships with hydrogen fuel systems

Norwegian Hydrogen has been announced as the hydrogen supplier for eight of the nine ships which received funding in a record-breaking award of grants from Enova yesterday. This marks a pivotal moment for the Norwegian maritime industry, and it is expected that Enova will follow up with more similar programs in the near future.
