Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced, proactive, practical, energetic and engaged Operations Manager, with an untiring commitment to safety.

You will lead our transition from project to operations and ensure seamless, safe, and efficient production and distribution of green hydrogen to our customers.

The Operations Manager holds a pivotal role with direct oversight and responsibility for the operational and maintenance aspects of our hydrogen facilities. This position is the linchpin in ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality operation of the plants and delivery to our customers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Operations and Resource Allocation: Assume full responsibility for the day-to-day operations, including inventory management and optimal allocation of human and material resources.
  • Safe and Efficient Production Launch: Oversee the safe and efficient startup of hydrogen production processes while implementing best practices for process safety and operational integrity.
  • Project Integration: Collaborate in the project planning and construction phases, working closely with the Project Manager and relevant teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to production.
  • Quality Assurance and Operational Excellence: Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed industry standards for quality. Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization, without compromising safety or environmental standards.
  • HSE and Compliance Management: Maintain a relentless focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE). Develop, enforce, and regularly audit safety protocols, ensuring strict compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Maintenance Excellence: Develop and implement maintenance strategies together with technical team to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime, ensuring equipment runs at peak performance.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Regularly update stakeholders and generate reports related to production, safety, maintenance, and environmental compliance. Track and assess Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operational effectiveness.
  • Team Management and Employee Training: Manage operational personnel, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s goals and objectives. Implement ongoing training programs to keep the team updated on the latest operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Supplier and Customer Relationship Management: Manage relationship with customers and operational suppliers, including hydrogen equipment suppliers, to ensure proper execution of their operational and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like finance, technology and commercial to drive effective operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Champion sustainability efforts, conducting internal audits to evaluate the sustainability of operations and implementing changes based on findings.
  • Emergency Response and Contingency Planning: Develop and oversee emergency response plans and contingencies to address potential operational issues and ensure the safety of people and the environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field; a Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in Operations and Maintenance within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in green hydrogen production processes is considered a substantial advantage.
  • A fervent commitment to HSE as a top priority.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, exemplified by a successful track record in assembling and guiding high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making acumen.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative spirit with the capability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in budget management and cost control.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in an additional Scandinavian language is strongly preferred.
