Norwegian Hydrogen is developing a liquid hydrogen project at Rjukan (NO), supported by a strong PPA for local hydropower and significant funding from both the EU and the Norwegian government through Innovation Norway.


Key Project Details:
- Hydrogen Production Capacity: Initial development of a 25 MW hydrogen plant, with an output of 10 tonnes per day (potential for upscaling)
- Renewable Energy Supply: Secured through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tinn Energi, ensuring stable and sustainable energy sourcing
- Technology Partner: Letter of intent signed with Nel for the supply of pressurized alkaline electrolysis technology and strong commitment with Nikkiso for the supply of the liquefaction plant equipment
- Permits approved
- Grid capacity reserved
- NOK 50 million CAPEX grant from Innovation Norway
- NOK 50 million loan offer from Innovation Norway
- EUR 13,2 million OPEX funding from EU Innovation Fund (EU Hydrogen Bank)
- EUR 31,5 million CAPEX grant from EU Innovation Fund
- Selected supplier by European logistics company Samskip
- FEED partner Worley, with option to proceed into EPC
