Hydrogen deliveries to hydrogen-powered dry cargo ships by Maris Fiducia
Maris Fiducia Norway AS, part of the innovative Maris Fiducia group, is building five 6,000 DWT dry cargo ships powered primarily by hydrogen. Green hydrogen will be produced and supplied by Norwegian Hydrogen.
These vessels, equipped with BeHydro hydrogen engines, HAV Hydrogen’s ZEPOD fuel cell systems, and swap storage tanks from UMOE, will operate in the Baltic Sea.
Technological Innovation
- Pilot of ZEPOD Integrated Fuel Cell System
- Development of a maritime Hydrogen Safety System (HSS)
- Hydrogen bunkering logistics and active swap container fuel tanks
- Zero-emission hydrogen technology for cargo ships
Knowledge Development & Industry Growth
The project supports competence building in hydrogen-powered ship design, construction, and operation, providing valuable experience for shipowners and suppliers. It also promotes large-scale hydrogen production and logistics.
Future Impact
This project will showcase zero-emission shipping within European time-charter markets, accelerating industry innovation and investments. The ship concept is scalable for additional routes and can extend sailing ranges with further hydrogen and fuel cell technology development.
