VIREON: Partnership with Helen for hydrogen refueling at Helsinki Hydrogen Hub
Following Helen’s final investment decision to launch the 3H2 Helsinki Hydrogen Hub, this collaboration aims to create a sustainable refueling solution that supports emission-free heavy transport and industrial applications in Finland. Vireon will construct and operate the refueling station adjacent to Helen's facility, marking a key step in establishing Finland’s first hydrogen corridor along the E75 route, connecting Helsinki to the Nordic hydrogen network.
The Vuosaari facility will integrate its waste heat into Helen’s district heating network, optimizing energy use and supporting Helsinki's CO₂ reduction targets. Expected to open by 2027, the refueling station will meet EU AFIR standards, advancing Finland’s progress toward sustainable transport. Through this partnership, Helen and Vireon demonstrate the value of hydrogen in achieving Finland's environmental objectives, providing a scalable solution for zero-emission heavy-duty transport.

About Vireon
Vireon, established in 2023 by Norwegian Hydrogen AS, is a leader in the Nordic hydrogen refueling sector, focusing on heavy-duty transport. Operating across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, the company is actively expanding its network to facilitate zero-emission solutions for trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles.
Backed by strong owners with high ambitions, and with a worldwide partner network, Vireon works to enable zero emissions for trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles.
Active projects span across the Nordics, and Vireon is continually exploring opportunities to expand its refueling network even further.
In 2023 Enova granted support to Vireon for four hydrogen refueling stations across Norway, marking a significant leap in establishing Norway’s first comprehensive hydrogen refueling corridor for heavy-duty transport.
